Guess I'll start the live blog from home, planning on going to the airport overnight since I have a 6 am flight and I like airports enough to wait there over ubering early since I wasn't gonna sleep anyway

Carry on, pillow for plane, some comfy backup shirt and shorts and Kindle/cables/battery/ docs in green bag

Going to check this carry on, mostly clothes and some shoes and dumb tourist omiyage from Canada in case there's a chance to give some away, also some stuff my friend in aomori wanted

Pocket stuff passport/passport card/Nexus and PR/credit cards and cash

I was so smug I caught that and just now I spent 20mins on the phone rushing to change my first night's hotel to Saturday because I can't be trusted with trips that span more than one day

Maybe trying to read at 3am when trying to stay awake was not the play, switching to Netflix..

Or discord... People seem to be lining up, time to check security

Wait these people are lining up but security doesn't open until 4, but Nexus doesn't open until 4:30... What's the point of p2w...

Also they had this automatic machine to drop off a checked bag that just automatically read the printed tag and ate my bag, it didn't even confirm my bag was eaten correctly and will follow me along...

I think will wait for Nexus line maybe...

A family got really mad security doesn't open before 4... Why do they need to be at the gate so early if the first flight out is at 6

Since I'm sitting here waiting while looking at the ceiling you can too, it's a neat ceiling or I'm tired

I've seen like 6 or 7 groups of people walk to the end of this area where the security people are and then walk back defeated when they realize it's closed

30 mins left (and the count is now at 10ish though people have started to gather in the area in wait)

At this point I have to wonder what people that see a group of other people sitting down before the line up area are thinking when they plow through to the front... When it was just me I kind of got it but do they think everyone else just likes to chill out here?

Line is moving, this is not a drill

Made it past customs, the officer knew I had one checked bag so I'm optimistic it was processed correctly

Almost forgot to checkout the pleb lounge my card gives me access to, nothing very exciting here though

I was a coward and asked the gate agent if my checked bag was in the system, it was.

Boarding started but I'm out here with the zone 4 gang

One last update, before I fly, I thought I got a blessed empty row but some guy came in absolutely last minute... 😿 I wonder if the couple behind me are going to Tokyo too, one is Japanese the other isn't but they speak to each other in Japanese sometimes.

Landing now, don't have a window seat or would have taken some pictures, I'll leave you with my "plane drink" which I don't really drink not on planes but always get on them

I slept most of the flight so my "slowly shift body clock" plan is proceeding on course, my goal in Chicago is to check if I can change my seat for the ANA flight and eat a hot dog

Also my budget noise cancelling headphones did a surprisingly decent job for the plane

Having a Japanese name and not speaking it would be rough, they do the announcements to summon passengers with Japanese names in it but foreign names in English

Being a bit annoying paid off and moved me from a middle seat to a window seat, bless up, being in the middle of three seats for 13 hours sounded like hell...
