6:30am morning, first day I slept until the alarm actually. Today will be a bit play by ear, we covered a lot of things that were in scope in the walking tour so it opened up some options (though we'll revisit a few in the daylight)
-
Cabbing to Kiyomizudera, a bit later than ideal but should still be relatively fine.
-
It's spoon pretty, beat most of the crowds too, photo dump time
-
More
-
And another
-
Now stopped for some apple pies things because we needed food, then keep walking these streets to some other temples
-
Passed by a giant Buddha statue thing but didn't go
-
Cute wish for someone else's happiness
-
Then we did Kodaiji temple, which has some the gardens I like
-
And a few more including a bamboo shoot grove
-
Then short coffee shop, very nice place
-
Decided to do teamLabs at 7 but now it's lunch time
-
We got bounced a few times but settled at an omurice store, now waiting
-
It was decent but didn't do the super runny eggs when you cut into them which is a shame...
-
Now we're denim hunting a bit
-
Success, she found some Kapital jeans at like half off vs Canada prices
-
Now just wandering and trying to get some shopping done to open up more time in Tokyo
-
Crepe stop
-
Stopped by a random eyeglasses store since they do same day frames + lenses much cheaper than Canada and they have a sunglasses option which is convenient
-
Updates were delayed by Bluesky being down or something? Not sure. Anywho ended up getting the sunglasses, will pick them up tomorrow. Then walked around the covered shopping area nearby and got two awesome stickers
-
Walked around a bit more and went to some hobby/art stores, she picked up a new cross-stitch patten, I grabbed some art, then we went for sushiro and got some conveyor store sushi, it's such an efficient operation...
-
Then we headed to teamLab Biovortex Kyoto... Before we get there though we got off on the wrong side of Kyoto station and spent maybe 10mins trying to figure out how to go from the North to the South side of the tracks... It was a bit stressful as I misunderstood our slot.
-
I thought it was a short slot from 730 to 8 but that was just when you were allowed to go in, once in you could stay as long as you wanted. I didn't realize how huge it was, we spent 2 hours there.
-
I wonder go into all of it but it's really a magical experience... The highlights for us were probably the mirrors/lantern room, a room that really messed with your sense of balance to an incredible degree and one with columns of light that is hard to describe Photos and videos do not do it justice.
-
Here's some more
-
And more
-
And some videos
-
And more
-
Maybe more tomorrow when BSky is not dying.... Uji and Tempura are the goals
