2am morning! Very fun. Wake up time is supposed to be in like 2 hours for the Hiroshima flight...
-
Today's plan is: budget airline to Hiroshima, drop off bags at hotel, get depressed (nukes are bad museum and memorial), eat okonomiyaki. Anything else is a win.
-
Once we get up and at em also planning on a konbini breakfast which is exciting
-
Convenience store brekkie, then shuttle then airport!
-
Shuttle to airport for the discount airline time

Shuttle to airport for the discount airline time
-
Good bye, Hotel Mystays Narita, airport hotel that you are
-
I forgot the track and field they have inside Terminal 3
-
Now waiting 12 mins for check out to open
-
The two genders
-
Funnily they don't even ask for id at check in but don't allow it online
-
Bananas, Japan
-
Now waiting for boarding, should be another 20
-
Waiting to take off
-
About to land, got to see Mount Fuji from the sky which was awesome
-
Landed! Now wait to disembark, grab bags, bus downtown and start exploring. We had a devil 2ish year old child across the aisle, tantrum central with noise cancelling piercing crying and yelling.
-
Very fast baggage check, yay small planes, now to catch a... Something downtown, should be 50ish mins
-
Darn, missed the first bus downtown by 8 people in line, if we'd left very slightly earlier we'd be in our way.
-
First nihongo jouzu (good Japanese) of the trip, get!
-
The remnants bus didn't take too long so it wasn't a huge loss, on our way now.
-
I kind of shoehorned Hiroshima into the trip because it just has a special place in my heart, Peace Memorial Park really moves me and there's just a lot of special memories in the city. I never did a night in Miyajima which will be really fun tomorrow... Today is sad museums plus whatever else day
-
Have time to kill on the bus so there's no time to slack on the flashcard grind
-
In the city, doing bag drop off and then walking
-
Then walked to the peace museusm
-
Then the peace park and atomic dome
-
I didn't take too many pics inside the museum, still in but it's really still just so emotionally intense for me. Not just for what happened here but for what's happening elsewhere now that'll leave very similar scars without a memorial
-
One thing that does counterbalance it and that really puts the city in perspective is that it went through this and has come out the other side, humans are resilient and hopefully other places like Gaza or Ukraine can come out as a place full of life and beauty again
-
Now okonomimura for okonomiyaki
-
I love Japanese gardens (Shukkeien)
-
Did I mention I love them
-
Maybe it's not clear
-
Once more with feeling
-
Encore
-
This is a good one
-
And a few more
-
Then the prefectural art museum attached to the garden
-
Suddenly one of the most famous Dali paintings
-
Liked this one
-
True love
-
Crazy grin horse
-
Then a bit of the castle ruins
-
Now the most important part, Hokkaido milk ice cream... Wish this flavor were more popular in NA
-
Walked around the covered malls a bit and then headed back to the hotel, just arrived... It's been a long day considering I've been up since like 2am... Time adjusting a normal wake up time it's the equivalent of midnight
-
There's a public bath in the hotel... Hmmmmmmmm
-
Had a light dinner at the convenience store and I realize I never posted the okonomiyaki from earlier, it was too much I couldn't finish it...
-
Went to the hotel's public bath, it was nice if bare bones and had a semi open air one that was nice and if the night were colder would have been even more so! Now it's time to unwind and get ready for Miyajima tomorrow
