Good morning (30 mins ago) but still in bed until everyone (1 person) is awake.
-
It looks like the forecast changed and there might not be rain today which would be excellent.
-
We left for Tulum and after a fairly straight and boring 2-hour drive we have arrived at our hotel, LiveTulum. The room isn't ready yet but we can leave our bags and then I guess maybe we'll go see the archaeological zone and there's like a food walking tour we got later
-
On the highway we got to see really great motivational signs like "drive safe your family is waiting for you", and "after an accident nothing is the same"
-
Now walking towards the Tulum ruins
-
Waiting for a guided tour to fill so this is the outside of our hotel tonight. There's a sign here saying Coba is closed but I can't verify, that was part of tomorrow's plans...
-
Cool iguana while waiting for the English tour to fill
-
The main temple
-
Apparently Venus was a fertility god for Mayans too but male, the guide said it's due to other civilizations also being around the tropics meaning Venus was correlated with growing and harvesting seasons, here's a sun temple
-
Back at the hotel for the day and checked in, it's such an adorable little room, pool is right next to us
-
I'll put up a few more Mayan pics in a bit but gonna relax before a fold tour thing we booked at 5
-
Saw that Coba, one of the places we were going to to tomorrow is closed for maintenance which is really unfortunate...
-
Maybe it's just the ability to walk up the pyramid which still sucks as i was looking forward to that anyway here's wonderwall
-
Now on to the food walking tour
-
We're back now and I'm not fully sure what tomorrow's plans will be... As an aside it's so hard to travel blog when you're not alone
-
Hotel isn't the greatest to be honest, pictures looked better but it's serviceable now onto food pics from the tour
-
The general idea was that it's a tour of places that aren't necessarily the fancy ones, more things locals would eat at, and aas we're in Mexico it started with tacos at Taquería Maya, i can't recall the names but they were pork
-
Then it was a tamale with cream cheese and some spinach like leaf that was very good with the red sauce they had at Don Taco
-
Guide, Jonas, was fun, he plans to start a sports podcast so be on the lookout, place 3 was elote, I'd tried I'd before but I'm still only so so on it
-
Then mole enchiladas here, mole was a bit sweeter than I'm used to but otherwise good
-
Finally we had some Al Pastor tacos that were pretty good, we finished it off with some coconut cream based ice cream that would make a killing in cities. The vanilla was yellow for some reason and we all panicked when it was being served thinking they misheard
-
There was another couple on the tour, one working in FB (now Meta) and the other a school principal from California that had ended up in Mexico because Morocco closed its borders, poor guys
-
Sidenote boba is everywhere
-
Bonus super official disney in a Christmas decorated plaza
-
Ok now it's bed time since we plan to start at 6 to beat the crowds.
