    Distance: 34km / 21 miles | Walking Time: 8-11 hours | Ascent: 950m / 3120ft

Terrain: The scenic trail along the shores of Loch Lomond from Rowardennan to Beinn Glass is considered to be the most challenging section of the WHW!

  3. #

The route follows rocky woodland, rugged, undulating lakeshore paths and rough forest tracks. There are many short, steep climbs and some shorter scrambles, particularly on the more rugged Lower Route option near Rowardennan.

From Beinn Glass you follow good paths and gravel tracks through open hillside, woodland and forestry with a gradual ascent and then a steep climb down to Crianlarich Food & Drink: Rowardennan ⇨ 12km ⇨ Inversnaid ⇨ 11km ⇨ Beinn Glass ⇨ 11km ⇨ Crianlarich

Of course today is the warmest and rainiest day too

  6. #

Anywho almost off, let's see how it goes today big scary

  7. #

    And we are off

  8. #

Got to Inversnaid which is like 1/3rd of the way and we're in rough shape

  9. #

Having some lunch now to see how or what's up next

  10. #

Think what we're doing next is catching a ferry and bus from here, feet are a bit too damaged and there's a couple of powerful blisters working against us. We'll regroup for next time to see how it goes!

  11. #

    Views from the pier

  12. #

    And the ferry is here

  13. #

Met two guys at the Inversnaid Hotel in a similarish boat, one sprained his ankle about a mile from the hotel and needed to transport himself to the next town. Unfortunately cars are not the best way so ferry first is the play as the taxi/uber cost otherwise is extortionate

  14. #

Waiting at the hotel with the ankle gang, next bus should be here in 20 mins

  15. #

    On the bus!

  16. #

Excuse me? What's our stop called??

  17. #

Close call on some of these roads with another bus, had to stop and reverse a bit

  18. #

We beat the hiking crowds using the ferry and winding mountain road bus life hack

  19. #

Forgot to post actual hike photos for the section we did

  20. #

And some more, we actually split off for around 5km as she went the high road and I went the low as the trail has an option there. But the end was tricky and had somewhat technical sections that would not have forgiven mistakes....

At the Ewich House B&B (forgot to take pics) and it's quite adorable, probably the first hike lodging I would possibly choose to stay at outside this context

  22. #

Circling back to the hike it really did feel like Lothlorien more than Loch Lomond, was hard to capture in photos especially with the overcast lighting..

  23. #

Tomorrow is around 20km as we're starting a bit further in than the guide's starting point, will try to see if we can work around the blisters and make it work!

Some of the stats, usually I don't pause during food breaks but this time the food break became a try again tomorrow break so the end is a bit skewed
