Day 8 - Aomori Prefecture things #Japan2019

I'm not 100% sure what the plan is today since he'll be my guide to the area, for now I'm waiting until he wakes up

Still waiting for him to wake up ahhhh, since I don't know the plan today roughly speaking my plan is Sendai tomorrow, have beef tongue, explore, then from there I'm less sure, I might rush to Hiroshima and brief stop Kyoto/Kobe on way back or vice versa before ending in Tokyo

Ok, we're off, plan is to drive along west coast of Aomori and hit up some sights and a really cool ocean facing onsen

Quick pit stop to get money and see his bonsai sensei (that's a thing) but he wasn't there

As most of you know I don't like cars or driving but gotta give them props for more countryside exploring that would be impossible for me otherwise, eg this shrine I could never hope to get to

Actually checking out Nihon Canyon first

Pretty walk up to the canyon view ground

Now the canyon from the viewing spot, now after a chilly and brisk uphill walk to get there we go to a hot open air onsen 😍

Ok, were out, that was a really great experience, the contrast of the hot water, the cold air, the cloudy water into a mineral stained orange onsen boundary into the ocean waves with black rocks and looming clouds behind that was 💯👌👌👌

Also on the way back to the car we got called handsome by some women that were going in 😳😳 feels confidence boost, man

Also, I would have taken pictures from the outdoor onsen to show the awesome color contrast but it would be too... Steamy for Twitter.

Ok I wanted to do that joke since yesterday and I'm glad I got the chance to today. Also that walk to the outdoor pool area after soaking in the indoor onsen for a bit was chilly and must be super fun in the winter

Now we drive South along the Sea of Japan

At Odate to eat at an oyakodon place he was recommended

This place raises or uses free range chicken

I got the oyakodon set, part 1

Part 2, goddamn that was the best oyakodon of my life I'm happy

Ice cream using eggs from their chickens, it was decent but I wanted it to be eggier

We're back now, I washed clothes and now we're relaxing a bit, tomorrow is Sendai! (When exactly tbd, the flexibility of the JR pass is godly)
